Getting Started with Meal Prep

IMG_7984We at My Body, My Kitchen really love cooking!  The kitchen can be a very creative and fun space where you can treat your palate and body to exactly what they want and need.  So, we want to help you get started using your kitchen and taking more control of what you eat.

Below we’ve listed a few ingredients and equipment that will help you get started with meal prep and cooking; we’ve even shared what we have in our kitchen.  Don’t worry if you don’t have everything just yet; you can purchase these items as needed.  Be sure to check out our Frequently Asked Questions page and other posts in The MBMK Guide for other tips about meal prep.


Sharp Knife: We use a Kyocera Ceramic Blade

Cutting Board: One of our boards is a Core bamboo cutting board

Gladware Entree ContainersMeal Prep Storage Containers

A few decent pots: We have this Analon Set

Blender: We use the Oster Beehive every day for our smoothies.  We also like the Blendtec Total Blender especially for making oat flour for our oatmeal pancakes

Mixing Bowls: We have a few of the 4-Quart and 1.5 Quart Pyrex bowls

Meauring Spoons:  We use the KitchenArt Adjustable Measuring Spoon.  Very convenient tool!

Pyrex Baking Dish Baking Dishes: Many of our recipes require baking and we never seem to have enough of these Pyrex Baking Dishes 

A good large spoon makes a huge difference in the kitchen.  Try this OXO Wooden Spoon.

Spices & Other Ingredients

Simply Organic Starter Set Many of our spices are from Simply Organic.  Their starter set has almost every spice you’ll need

Spectrum Organic Coconut Oil, Unrefined, 14 oz

Spectrum Organic Virgin Coconut Oil

Brown Sugar
Cayenne Pepper
Coconut Oil

Cooking spray
Garlic Powder

Extra Virgin Olive Oil
